Unisonic Interview by more-metal.com in German
Here is a little translation and summary of this interview:
Interviewer: You are just finishing your Sweden Rock Festival gig. How was the experience and the feeling?
Kosta: The gig was very good, but had some delay because of the storm in Sweden and some security issues because of the broken down tower. It was a fantastic experience for such a new band.
Interviewer: You are for quite some time in the business, so it’s not quite a new band?
Kosta: Yes, but we never played before in this constellation, so it’s quite a new band. We had just played 3 small club shows and one big festival. The playing together went very well and Michaels voice was in a very good condition. These two things are very important for the band.
Interviewer: What is your actual set list?
Kosta: We are playing mostly Place Vendome songs. It’s our basis since Dennis produced both albums, Michael did the vocals and I did the drumming.
Interviewer: I have also heard some Victim of Changes in the concert, am I right?
Kosta: Yes that’s right. The album version of a little time has an effect part, but Helloween did in the past also some jamming part during this song. So Michael came with this idea and they tried this out during rehearsals. They all like Judas Priest. During the high screaming parts the crowd really get mad.
Interviewer: Everyone is curios, how the new material will sound. You told me before, the material will go into the direction of Place Vendome. When can we expect an release?
Kosta: We have 8 or 9 songs ready, but until now not recorded on a demo. After the following festivals we will write more songs.
Interviewer: Is everyone involved in song writing?
Kosta: Everyone except me, since I have always worked more in the background. But we have 3 very talented song writer in the band.
Interviewer: Is it for sure, that Unisonic will stay as a band?
Kosta: Yes of course, I was from the beginning on planned as a real band and not a project. During the festival season or afterwards we are recording the demo and search for a record label and the production will start afterwards. They want to establish the band with several steps. With a lot of touring, recording albums and so on.
Interviewer: Have you ever been skeptical if Michael stays with his decision to be involved in this new band situation?
Kosta: No, never. Dennis and me had some email contact with Michael for some time and Michael is a person who stays with his decision. But it took some time until he finally decided to start the band. They want it to be in the style of Place Vendome, as a Rock band which is away from the metal clichés. They have with Dennis a very talented producer and everyone is excited about the band.
Interviewer: What are you doing in your free time? Do you still have some free time at all?
Kosta: During the last 3 weeks there was only little free time, because we had to work very hard for the band. It was worth the hard work. I have a family with 2 children and spent my free time with them.
Interviewer: You did make some kind of secret of the whole Unisonic story, is that true?
Kosta: Yes a little bit, since we did not want to release something which is not worked out completely. That’s why we didn’t relase demos until now or some stuff on myspace. W did not really make a secret of the whole thing, but did not spread to many rumors. But there were so many people out there who were curios how the new material will sound. We have received lots of mails with questions, if there are some Helloween songs or something similar. At that time we didn’t know exactly how Unisonic will sound. When we did our first rehearsals everyone was exited and smiled. It was a great experience.
Interviewer: Do you have a challenge as a drummer, what you want to achieve?
Kosta: No, I have no plans for jamming with other guys or so on. During the last years I had not so much to do, since Pink Cream 69 had not done that much touring. So it was a kind of reactivation for me with Unisonic. I was working more in the management area instead. I also don’t want to riun a song with some frantic drumming style. This would also not work out for Unisonic, since these songs need some groove.
Interviewer: What is your last message?
Kosta: Please be a little bit patient. We had other plans and wanted to release an EP before the festivals. Sorry it didn’t work out. But it will be worth the waiting. We have already written fantastic song and some more will follow. It’s probably be the beginning of next year when the new album will be released. Soon afterwards, we will go on tour and everyone is invited.
